Target Information
Mouse Alpha-Galactosidase A (Gla) is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of alpha-galactosidic linkages in glycolipids and glycoproteins. It plays a crucial role in the degradation of glycosphingolipids, particularly in the lysosomes. Deficiencies in Gla lead to Fabry disease, a lysosomal storage disorder characterized by the accumulation of glycosphingolipids in various tissues. Research on Gla has focused on enzyme replacement therapy and substrate reduction therapy for the treatment of Fabry disease.
