Target Information
Chicken Ephrin-A5 (EFNA5) is a member of the ephrin family, which functions as a ligand for Eph receptors. EFNA5 is anchored to the cell membrane via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage and plays a crucial role in cell migration, repulsion, and adhesion during neuronal, vascular, and epithelial development. In chickens, EFNA5 has been implicated in the regulation of ovarian follicle development and apoptosis in granulosa cells. It has been shown to promote apoptosis in a Caspase 8-dependent manner and to regulate cell proliferation through the ERK and Akt signaling pathways. EFNA5 also influences the secretion of steroidogenesis hormones, such as estradiol, and the expression of growth factors like BMP15 and GDF9, which are critical for follicular development.
