Specifications
Target Information
Sheep superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) is a 16 kDa cytosolic Cu/Zn homodimer whose Greek-key β-barrel and electrostatic loop guide superoxide to the active-site metal, converting O₂⁻ to H₂O₂. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 57-70) between β-strands 4 and 5 folds into a β-hairpin unique among sheep SOD isoforms, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after metal chelation and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native SOD1 in spinal cord motor neurons, hepatic cytosol, and erythrocytes, delivering crisp cytoplasmic puncta and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to SOD2 or SOD3.
