Target Information
Rabbit S100 calcium binding protein A12 (S100A12) is a cytoplasmic calcium-binding protein of the S100 family, a core mediator of innate immune response and inflammatory regulation. It features two conserved EF-hand calcium-binding motifs, a lysine-rich C-terminal domain, and structural regions critical for protein dimerization and ligand interaction. It localizes to the cytoplasm of rabbit neutrophils, monocytes and activated epithelial cells, with negligible levels in non-immune and resting tissues. The protein mediates leukocyte adhesion and pro-inflammatory cytokine release, with conserved motifs for binding to TLR4 and RAGE. Rabbit S100A12 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct pro-inflammatory specificity differentiating it from S100A8 and S100A9.
