Target Information

Mouse interferon alpha (IFN-α) is a secreted type I interferon cytokine, a core component of the innate antiviral and immunomodulatory signaling network. It features a conserved helical bundle structure with five α-helices, an N-terminal signal peptide for extracellular secretion, and structural motifs critical for binding to cognate cell surface receptors. It localizes predominantly to the extracellular matrix of mouse immune cells including leukocytes and plasmacytoid dendritic cells, with negligible expression in non-hematopoietic tissues. The protein mediates receptor dimerization and downstream signaling initiation, with conserved domains differentiating it from IFN-β and IFN-γ isoforms.
