Target Information
Rat vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 (FLT1) is a 156 kDa type-I transmembrane glycoprotein whose seven Ig-like extracellular domains and split cytoplasmic tyrosine-kinase inserts bind VEGF-A, -B and PlGF with high affinity. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 350-363) between Ig-like domains 3 and 4 folds into a β-hairpin unique among rat VEGF receptors, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after ligand binding and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native FLT1 in pulmonary capillary endothelium, hepatic sinusoids, and trophoblast layers, delivering crisp membrane rings and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to KDR or FLT4.
