Target Information

Mouse cortactin (CTTN) is a cytoplasmic actin-binding protein of the Cortactin family, a core regulator of actin cytoskeleton remodeling and cell motility. It features an N-terminal acidic domain for Arp2/3 complex interaction, six tandem actin-binding repeats, a proline-rich region, and a C-terminal SH3 domain critical for structural integrity and protein interaction. It localizes to the cytoplasm, lamellipodia and invadopodia of mouse epithelial cells, fibroblasts and immune cells, with negligible levels in differentiated muscle cells. The protein mediates actin filament nucleation and cell migration, with conserved motifs for binding to actin and scaffold proteins. Mouse CTTN shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct regulatory specificity differentiating it from other actin-modulating proteins.
