Rat fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) is a 110-kDa transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor widely expressed in rat tissues-enriched in developing embryos, vascular endothelial cells, and mesenchymal progenitors. It binds cognate FGF ligands (e.g., FGF1, FGF2) to form dimers, activating downstream signaling (PI3K-AKT, MAPK) that regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, and angiogenesis. Critical for rat embryonic development (skeletal, neural, vascular systems) and adult tissue repair, it modulates tissue homeostasis and adaptive responses to injury. Dysregulated activation associates with developmental defects, cancer, and fibrotic diseases.
