Target Information
Mouse proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 1 (PCSK1) is a serine protease encoded by the Pcsk1 gene in Mus musculus, mapped to chromosome 10. It belongs to the proprotein convertase family, featuring a conserved catalytic domain, propeptide region, P domain and C-terminal domain critical for activation and substrate cleavage. It localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus, with tissue-specific expression in mouse pancreas, brain and endocrine tissues, with low levels in peripheral organs. The protein mediates proprotein processing, with conserved motifs for substrate recognition and enzymatic activity. Mouse PCSK1 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct substrate specificity differentiating it from PCSK2 and other family members.
