Mouse LOXL1 is a secreted copper-dependent amine oxidase with conserved catalytic and propeptide domains that maintain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It is released into extracellular matrix by fibroblast, ocular and connective tissue cell populations. Its matrix-deposited soluble enzymatic architecture and stromal tissue-enriched expression distinguish it from transmembrane receptors, cytoplasmic scaffolding adaptors and intranuclear transcriptional regulators with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
