Mouse ITGA9 is a single-pass transmembrane glycoprotein with large extracellular ligand-binding domains and short cytoplasmic regulatory segments. It assembles stable heterodimers with integrin beta subunits under physiological conditions and distributes on plasma membranes of mesenchymal and immune cell groups. Its cell-surface anchored topology and multi-domain adhesion architecture separate it from soluble cytoplasmic enzymes, secreted circulating signaling polypeptides and intranuclear transcriptional regulators with compact single-domain assemblies and confined static subcellular localization profiles.
