Target Information
Mouse tenascin C (TNC) is a large extracellular matrix glycoprotein encoded by the Tnc gene in Mus musculus, mapped to chromosome 9. It belongs to the tenascin family, featuring a multi-domain architecture including N-terminal tenascin assembly domains, epidermal growth factor-like repeats, fibronectin type III domains and a C-terminal fibrinogen-like domain. It localizes predominantly to extracellular matrix, with spatiotemporal expression in mouse embryonic tissues, developing organs and adult tissues during remodeling. TNC mediates cell adhesion modulation, extracellular matrix organization and cell-matrix interaction. Mouse TNC shares conserved structural motifs with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct domain compositions that differentiate it from tenascin R, X and other family isoforms.
