Ethinylestradiol is a 296-Da synthetic 17α-ethynyl estradiol whose phenolic A-ring and extended ethynyl tail bind estrogen receptors α and β, triggering nuclear transcription. A solvent-exposed 5-aa "KVE" hapten (3-hydroxy-17α-ethynyl) linked to carrier proteins presents a fixation-stable epitope unique among steroid antigens. Antibodies to this conjugate detect ethinylestradiol in serum, hepatic cytosol and tablet residues, yielding crisp intracellular staining and single-band blots without cross-reaction to estradiol or mestranol.

This product is shipped with wet ice packs. Store at -20°C on receipt (up to 12 months). Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody.
