Carmine is a 50 kDa aluminum-cochineal complex whose hydroxyanthracene chromophore and polysaccharide shell create a crimson hapten; a solvent-exposed 6-aa "KVE" hapten (carminic-acid glucoside) linked to carrier presents a fixation-stable epitope unique among natural dyes. Antibodies to this conjugate detect carmine in food, pharmaceutical coatings and tissue sections, yielding crisp extracellular precipitates and single-band blots without cross-reaction to other anthraquinone pigments.
Shipping and Storage
This product is shipped with wet ice packs. Store at -20°C on receipt (up to 12 months). Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody.
