Target Information
Mouse intercellular adhesion molecule 4 (ICAM-4, LW blood group) is a 249-residue type I transmembrane glycoprotein whose extracellular Ig-like domain (D1) binds integrins LFA-1 and α4β1, while a single transmembrane helix anchors the protein to erythroid precursors and endothelial cells. A 46-aa cytoplasmic tail lacks signalling motifs but associates with cytoskeletal adaptors. Expressed selectively in fetal liver, adult bone marrow and spleen, ICAM-4 localizes to plasma membrane and extracellular vesicles. Antibodies raised against the Ig-like or cytoplasmic peptide detect native, glycosylated and soluble forms with negligible cross-reactivity to other ICAM family members, enabling selective immunoblot and immunofluorescence analysis in mouse hematopoietic tissue homogenates and cultured erythroid precursors.
