Target Information

Olaquindox metabolites refers to the breakdown products of Olaquindox, a banned quinoxaline antimicrobial agent once used as a growth promoter and for disease prevention in swine and poultry. These metabolites, such as deoxyolaquindox, can accumulate and persist in edible tissues like the liver and kidneys of food-producing animals. Due to the potential mutagenic and genotoxic effects of Olaquindox and its metabolites, their residues in meat and other animal products pose a public health risk, leading to bans on its use in many countries.
