Target Information
The Angiopoietin-1 receptor is a tyrosine-protein kinase that serves as a cell-surface receptor for ANGPT1, ANGPT2, and ANGPT4, playing a pivotal role in regulating angiogenesis, endothelial cell survival, proliferation, migration, adhesion, cell spreading, actin cytoskeleton reorganization, and the maintenance of vascular quiescence. It exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by preventing the leakage of pro-inflammatory plasma proteins and leukocytes from blood vessels. This receptor is essential for normal angiogenesis and heart development during embryonic development. In mice, Angiopoietin-1 (Ang1) functions primarily as an endothelial cell-specific growth factor, exerting various biological effects through its interaction with Tie receptors. By binding to these receptors, Ang1 enhances the adhesion and barrier function of vascular endothelial cells, thereby reducing vascular leakage. For instance, mice with Ang1 overexpression demonstrate enhanced anti-inflammatory and anti-leakage capabilities in their blood vessels.
