Target Information

Thioredoxin-Dependent Peroxide Reductase, Mitochondrial is a remarkable enzyme found in the mitochondrial matrix. It is encoded by the PRDX3 gene in cattle. PRDX3 is a thiol-specific peroxidase that plays a critical role in detoxifying hydrogen peroxide and organic hydroperoxides. This gene is a c-Myc target gene that is required to maintain normal mitochondrial function. The encoded protein is a mitochondrial protein of the peroxiredoxin gene family.
