Target Information

Podoplanin influences cell migration and adhesion through interactions with various partners. During development, it plays a crucial role in the separation of blood and lymphatic vessels by binding to CLEC1B, activating platelets, and leading to platelet activation and/or aggregation. Podoplanin is essential for lymphatic vessel development, particularly in lymphocyte and endothelial cell differentiation. It promotes the separation of blood and lymph by binding to C-type lectin-like receptor 2 (CLEC-2), thereby maintaining the integrity of the lymphatic system. Mice lacking Podoplanin exhibit abnormal lymphatic vessel development, resulting in irregular lymph node formation.
