Target Information

Interleukin-7 is a hematopoietic cytokine crucial for the development, proliferation, and survival of both naive and memory T-cells and B-cells, thereby regulating the mature lymphocyte count and maintaining lymphoid homeostasis. It achieves its biological functions through a receptor consisting of the IL7RA subunit and the cytokine receptor common gamma subunit (CSF2RG). In mice, IL-7 is important for various functions, including the regulation of B and T cell development, maintenance of intestinal mucosal immune balance, and involvement in metabolic regulation. In mice lacking IL-7, there is a marked impairment in B cell development, evidenced by a reduction in immature B cells in the bone marrow and a decreased number of B cells in the spleen.
