Target Information
Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning (DSP) is caused by toxins produced by certain marine dinoflagellates, commonly found in shellfish. These toxins, including okadaic acid and dinophysistoxins, inhibit protein phosphatases, leading to gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. DSP toxins are heat-stable and can persist in shellfish even after cooking. Targeting DSP toxins with specific antibodies allows for accurate detection and quantification in shellfish samples, making it a crucial tool for food safety and public health protection.
