Target Information
Thromboxane-A synthase (TBXAS1), also known as cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoform CYP5A1, is an enzyme encoded by the TBXAS1 gene in cattle. TBXAS1 catalyzes the conversion of prostaglandin H2 (PGH2) to thromboxane A2 (TXA2). TXA2 is a potent vasoconstrictor and an inducer of platelet aggregation. TBXAS1 also converts PGH2 to 12-Hydroxyheptadecatrienoic acid (12-HHT), which acts as an agonist of Leukotriene B4 receptors (BLT2 receptors) and a mediator of certain BLT2 receptor actions.
