Target Information

Nemo-like kinase (NLK) is an evolutionarily conserved serine/threonine protein kinase involved in the regulation of development, proliferation and apoptosis. It was originally identified in Drosophila as the gene nemo, required for proper rotation of photoreceptor cells during eye ommatidia morphogenesis. Although NLK is a member of the MAPK family, it lacks most features characteristic of typical MAPKs. Research has shown that NLK is a pathological effector in the heart.
