Target Information

Bradykinin performs a wide array of functions in mice, encompassing cardiovascular, renal, immune, inflammatory, metabolic, and tumor-related processes. Its actions are primarily mediated through B1 and B2 receptors, with the B2 receptor playing a particularly prominent role, especially in cardiovascular and renal functions. However, B1 receptors can also become involved under certain pathological conditions. For example, in inflammatory and tumor environments, B1 receptor expression may increase to compensate for the loss of B2 receptors. Bradykinin is also crucial in regulating hypertension and salt-sensitive hypertension. For instance, mice lacking B2 receptors exhibit a significantly heightened response to high sodium intake, underscoring the importance of B2 receptors in maintaining blood pressure balance.
