Target Information
Thyroxine is a major hormone secreted by the thyroid gland in animals. In livestock production, thyroid-containing tissues (like livestock necks) are strictly prohibited from entering the food supply chain because accidental consumption of thyroxine-rich tissues can cause "thyrotoxicosis" in humans, leading to symptoms like palpitations, tachycardia, headaches, and tremors. Additionally, illegal use of thyreostatics or thyroid hormones as growth promoters in animal feed can lead to hazardous residues in meat, milk, and eggs, disrupting human endocrine function and posing a direct threat to consumer health.
