Target Information

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion from parathyroid cells is controlled by extracellular calcium (Ca) levels. The levels of intact PTH and total PTH are closely correlated. iPTH plays a crucial role in calcium homeostasis. iPTH levels can be measured through a blood test and are essential for diagnosing and managing parathyroid disorders. Research has shown that exogenous dexamethasone stimulates an increase in circulating intact PTH in young piglets.
