Target Information
Vitamin K-dependent protein Z supports hemostasis by binding to thrombin and promoting its association with phospholipid vesicles. It inhibits the activity of the coagulation protease factor Xa in the presence of SERPINA10, calcium, and phospholipids. As a vitamin K-dependent plasma protein, Protein Z's primary function is to inhibit activated coagulation factor Xa by forming a complex with it. This inhibitory effect is mediated by the protein Z-dependent protease inhibitor (PZPI), a serine protease inhibitor containing a tyrosine residue. The functions of vitamin K-dependent proteins can vary among different species.
