Target Information
Rabbit Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor (CNTF) is a multifunctional cytokine that supports the survival and differentiation of various neuronal and non-neuronal cells. CNTF binds to a receptor complex consisting of CNTFRα, GP130, and LIFR, activating signaling pathways such as MAPK/ERK and STAT3-SOCS3, which mediate cell survival, proliferation, and apoptosis. In rabbits, CNTF has been shown to promote the survival of cementoblasts in the short term by activating ERK1/2 signaling, which inhibits apoptosis. However, prolonged exposure to CNTF can increase the apoptotic rate of these cells, highlighting its complex regulatory effects on cell viability. CNTF's ability to modulate cell fate makes it a valuable target for research in neurodegenerative diseases and tissue repair.
