Target Information
Rabbit Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (A2M) is a versatile acute-phase protein and a broad-spectrum protease inhibitor that plays a crucial role in immune modulation and tissue protection. It can trap and inactivate various proteases released during inflammation or infection, preventing tissue damage. In rabbits, A2M is synthesized in response to inflammatory stimuli and can increase significantly in concentration. Additionally, A2M binds and transports cytokines and growth factors, potentially modulating immune responses. It also aids in antigen presentation by macrophages, enhancing T-cell activation. These functions highlight A2M's importance in maintaining tissue integrity and supporting immune defense.
