Target Information

Mouse Alkaline Phosphatase, Tissue-Nonspecific Isozyme (Alpl) is a crucial enzyme involved in bone metabolism and development. It is expressed in osteoblasts and plays a significant role in bone mineralization by hydrolyzing inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi) and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP). Alpl deficiency is associated with hypophosphatasia, a severe skeletal disorder characterized by reduced bone mineralization and increased risk of fractures. In addition to its role in bone health, Alpl has been implicated in immune regulation and cancer progression. Recent studies have shown that Alpl can influence the fate of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) by regulating ATP release and the AMPKα signaling pathway, thereby affecting bone aging.
