Target Information

Canine IL-31 is a four-helix bundle cytokine and a member of the gp130/IL-6 family. Produced primarily by activated Th2 cells, it signals through a heterodimeric receptor complex of IL-31RA and Oncostatin M receptor (OSMR). In dogs, IL-31 is a major driver of pruritus (itching) and skin inflammation. It is a validated clinical target for treating canine atopic dermatitis, with therapies like lokivetmab specifically designed to neutralize this cytokine to provide relief from chronic scratching and skin lesions.
