Target Information
Canine cholinesterase (BCHE) is a crucial enzyme in dogs that plays a significant role in the hydrolysis of esters, including the breakdown of neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine and butyrylcholine. It is involved in the regulation of synaptic transmission and has been implicated in the detoxification of certain poisons and drugs. Recent studies have highlighted its potential therapeutic use in treating canine cognitive dysfunction, where it can help improve cognitive abilities and reduce the symptoms of age-related cognitive decline.
