Target Information
Bovine Stromelysin-1 (MMP3) is a matrix metalloproteinase that degrades various extracellular matrix components, including fibronectin, gelatin, proteoglycans, and collagen. It plays a significant role in tissue remodeling and repair. In bovine research, MMP3 is involved in inflammatory responses, particularly in the context of infections. For example, Mycoplasma bovis can induce the expression of MMP3 in bovine synovial cells through the production of IL-1β, contributing to joint inflammation. Additionally, MMP3 has been implicated in cancer progression, where it promotes tumor invasion and metastasis by degrading the extracellular matrix. In bovine mammary glands, MMP3 is expressed during involution and is associated with ECM remodeling and alveolar regression.
