Target Information
Canine stromelysin-1, also known as Matrix Metalloproteinase 3 (MMP-3), is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family that plays a significant role in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in dogs. It is involved in physiological processes such as tissue remodeling and repair, but its dysregulation is associated with various pathological conditions, including arthritis and cancer progression. MMP-3 is synthesized as a proenzyme and is activated by the removal of its N-terminal prodomain. It cleaves a number of extracellular matrix and non-extracellular matrix proteins, contributing to its role in tissue homeostasis and disease pathology.
