Specifications
Target Information
Rat triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the TREM family. It features a conserved extracellular immunoglobulin-like domain, a single transmembrane segment and a short cytoplasmic tail critical for structural integrity. It localizes to cell membranes of rat microglia, macrophages and osteoclasts, with negligible levels in non-myeloid tissues. The protein mediates cell activation and signal transduction, with conserved motifs for ligand binding and adapter protein interaction. Rat TREM2 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue specificity differentiating it from TREM1.
