Rat Tissue Inhibitor of Metalloproteinase 3 (TIMP3) is a key regulator of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which are involved in extracellular matrix degradation and tissue remodeling. It is expressed in various tissues and inhibits MMP activity by forming stable complexes with the enzymes. TIMP3 also plays a role in cell proliferation and apoptosis. In rats, TIMP3 is involved in protecting against kidney diseases and is associated with conditions like renal fibrosis.
