Target Information

Rat osteopontin (OPN) is a secreted phosphorylated glycoprotein of the SIBLING family, a multifunctional mediator of cell adhesion and tissue remodeling. It features a conserved N-terminal signal peptide, a central RGD integrin-binding motif, and a C-terminal calcium-binding region critical for structural integrity and ligand interaction. It localizes to the extracellular matrices of rat bone, kidney and immune tissues, with negligible levels in skeletal muscle and nervous tissues. The protein mediates cell migration and inflammatory response modulation, with conserved motifs for binding to integrins and CD44. Rat OPN shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue specificity differentiating it from bone sialoprotein and dentin matrix protein 1.
