Target Information
Porcine prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is a transmembrane glycoprotein with glutamate carboxypeptidase activity, a tissue-restricted marker of prostatic epithelial cells. It features a conserved extracellular catalytic domain, a single transmembrane segment, and a short cytoplasmic tail critical for structural integrity and membrane anchoring. It localizes to the cell membranes of porcine prostate gland cells, with negligible levels in non-prostatic tissues. The protein mediates glutamate metabolism and peptide hydrolysis, with conserved motifs for substrate binding and enzymatic catalysis. Porcine PSMA shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue specificity differentiating it from other prostate-associated antigens.
