Target Information
Mouse huntingtin associated protein 1 (HAP1) is an intracellular scaffold protein encoded by the Hap1 gene in Mus musculus, mapped to chromosome 11. It belongs to the HAP1 protein family, featuring conserved coiled-coil domains, multiple protein-binding motifs and a C-terminal tail critical for interaction specificity. It localizes to cytoplasm, neuronal vesicles and synaptic terminals, with tissue-specific expression enriched in mouse brain and spinal cord, with minimal levels in peripheral tissues. The protein mediates intracellular trafficking and scaffold assembly, with conserved motifs for binding partners and structural stability. Mouse HAP1 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue distribution differentiating it from other neuronal scaffold proteins.
