Target Information
Mouse Fas-Related Apoptosis Ligand (FASL) is a type II transmembrane protein that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family. It plays a crucial role in the regulation of apoptosis by binding to its receptor, Fas (CD95), on target cells. This interaction triggers the extrinsic apoptotic pathway, leading to the activation of caspases and programmed cell death. FasL is expressed on immune cells, such as T cells and natural killer cells, and is involved in immune homeostasis by mediating the elimination of activated lymphocytes and maintaining peripheral tolerance.
