Target Information
Mouse Agrin is a secreted heparan sulfate proteoglycan, a key regulator of postsynaptic differentiation and neuromuscular junction (NMJ) formation. It features conserved N-terminal laminin G-like domains, central follistatin-like modules, and C-terminal LG domains critical for receptor binding and signaling activation. It localizes to the extracellular matrices of mouse skeletal muscles, central nervous system tissues and NMJs, with negligible levels in hematopoietic and epithelial tissues. The protein mediates acetylcholine receptor clustering via MuSK-LRP4 complex interaction, with conserved motifs for heparan sulfate modification and cell adhesion. Mouse Agrin shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue specificity differentiating it from other synaptic proteoglycans.
