Rat WIF1 is a secreted soluble protein equipped with conserved Wnt-binding structural domains that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It is secreted by mesenchymal and epithelial cell populations into extracellular matrices of multiple organ systems. Its extracellular secretory structural framework and broad tissue distribution differentiate it from transmembrane receptors, cytoplasmic signal adaptors and intranuclear transcriptional regulators with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
