Target Information

Matrilin-2 is a key player in matrix assembly and has diverse and essential functions in mice. It is crucial for the regeneration and differentiation of tissues, including bones, muscles, nerves, and skin, and is also involved in processes such as tumor development, inflammatory responses, and liver regeneration. In the context of bone and cartilage development, Matrilin-2 plays a significant role. It is highly expressed in the bones of newborn mice, particularly in the cartilage layer, periosteum, and chondrocytes. However, its expression decreases markedly in adult mice, where it becomes primarily localized to articular cartilage and chondrocytes. This dynamic expression pattern highlights the importance of Matrilin-2 in skeletal development and maintenance.
