Target Information
Cathepsin B, also known as Cathepsin B1, is a thiol protease involved in the intracellular degradation and turnover of proteins, and it cleaves the matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein MEPE. The Ctsb gene is closely linked to the emotional behavior of mice, with significant differences in its expression observed between high-anxiety (HAB) and low-anxiety (LAB) mice. Variations in the Ctsb gene may influence the emotional behavior of mice. Mice with the Ctsb gene knocked out exhibit increased anxiety and depression-like behaviors, particularly in females.
