Target Information
Rat centaurin alpha 2 (CENTA2) is a phosphatidylinositol-binding protein encoded by the Centa2 gene in Rattus norvegicus, mapped to chromosome 4. It belongs to the Arf GTPase-activating protein family, featuring a conserved N-terminal GAP domain, central PH domains and a C-terminal Ank repeat region. CENTA2 localizes predominantly to cytoplasm and cell membrane, with tissue-specific expression in rat brain, lung, kidney and testis, and relatively low levels in heart and skeletal muscle. It mediates Arf GTPase activity regulation, phosphatidylinositol signaling transduction and intracellular vesicle trafficking. Rat CENTA2 harbors conserved functional motifs with mammalian orthologs, with distinct binding affinity that differentiates it from other centaurin alpha isoforms.
