Target Information

Porcine Interferon Alpha (IFNa) is a type I interferon produced by swine immune cells in response to viral infections. It plays a pivotal role in antiviral defense by inhibiting viral replication within host cells. IFNa also modulates immune responses, enhancing the activity of immune cells such as natural killer cells and macrophages. This cytokine signals through the interferon receptor, activating intracellular pathways that lead to the expression of interferon-stimulated genes. These genes are essential for combating viral infections and regulating immune responses in pigs. Porcine IFNa is particularly important in the context of swine viral diseases, where it helps protect pigs from infections.
