Mouse UXT is a small cytoplasmic and nuclear adaptor protein with conserved protein interaction motifs that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It appears in almost all somatic cell populations and integrates into nuclear transcription and cytosolic transport complexes. Its compact multi-domain adaptor structure and universal tissue distribution differentiate it from secreted signaling cytokines, transmembrane cell surface receptors and lysosomal metabolic enzymes with simplified single-domain assemblies that only accumulate within limited specialized cell subsets.
