Mouse MID1 is a cytoplasmic multi-domain scaffold protein containing conserved RING, B-box and coiled-coil motifs that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It accumulates within cytosolic and perinuclear compartments of neuronal and epithelial cell populations across developing tissues. Its intracellular scaffolding architecture and developmental tissue-restricted expression differentiate it from transmembrane receptors, soluble secreted signaling peptides and intranuclear transcriptional regulators with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
