Mouse macrophage receptor with collagenous structure (MARCO) is a type II transmembrane protein mainly expressed on myeloid cells. It contains an extracellular collagen-like domain and a conserved scavenger receptor structure, locating on the cell surface. The protein forms a stable oligomeric conformation for molecular recognition. Its typical collagenous domain and myeloid-specific expression clearly distinguish it from other scavenger receptor family members.
