Target Information

Mouse somatostatin is a peptide hormone that exists in two major forms: somatostatin-14 and somatostatin-28. It is produced by neurons and endocrine cells in the hypothalamus, gastrointestinal tract, and pancreas. Somatostatin inhibits the secretion of various hormones, including growth hormone, insulin, glucagon, and gastrin, by binding to specific G protein-coupled receptors (SSTR1-5). This hormone plays a crucial role in regulating endocrine and exocrine functions, as well as modulating neurotransmission in the central nervous system.
